After wearing a brightly colored cocktail frock out a couple weeks ago, I was hooked on color. And so excited to wear an electric orange evening gown to a black-tie a few nights later. I loved it. I certainly stood out in the sea of black dresses -- but it felt great. The Akris gown I wore was also pretty slinky, to say the least. And, I actually wore a "fascinator" (the party theme was "Bold & British" in honor of the Royal Wedding)! I am usually relatively restrained with it comes to what I wear but it was so fun to break out and take some fashion risks. You only live once!

Going Bright

I wore my first bright cocktail dress of the season last night. A mini shift by Akris in an electric floral print. I added a black patent belt and wore high, chunky black sandals. Let me tell you, it felt great NOT to be in a basic LBD!   


The party was in celebration of former Town & Country EIC Pamela Fiori's new Assouline book, In the Spirit of Capri. It's a gorgeous coffee table book that had me dreaming of a jet-set-worthy vacation all night. I was thrilled to get my signed copy by Ms. Fiori herself.

Next up, a slinky, tangerine-orange jersey gown on Thursday night.

The more orange I see infiltrating the stores, the more I want the color to infiltrate my wardrobe.  I love the pop of the sunny shade against summer whites, khaki, chambray... It's just the right combination of sporty and jet-set.

I am lusting after a big (maybe even oversize) tote in the bright hue. While I previously posted (Orange Crush) about the citrusy Tods bag I am considered taking out of retirement, I am now leaning towards new one -- in more of the Hermes-y orange that was so chic on the Celine runway.

I love this lightweight Celine leather tote I saw hanging on a mannequin at Saks the other day. Structured is always polished but I am feeling more of the soft, slouchy style for my everyday, around-town, casual warm-weather look.
