The new Duchess of Cambridge chose Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen again for her post-ceremony party dress. While still capturing the essence of a wedding gown, the look was a slightly less formal then her lace-sleeved stunner.

Royal Wedding Fever, cont...

What a beautiful wedding photo by Mario Testino. They are one lucky couple to have such a legend as their court photographer!

Puddle Jumpers

Rainy days aren't so bad now that I have my rubber ballet flats from J.Crew.  Love the pretty coral shade. Just the thing to brighten up a gloomy day and put a spring in your step when you make a mad dash through the wet weather.

Going Bright

I wore my first bright cocktail dress of the season last night. A mini shift by Akris in an electric floral print. I added a black patent belt and wore high, chunky black sandals. Let me tell you, it felt great NOT to be in a basic LBD!   


The party was in celebration of former Town & Country EIC Pamela Fiori's new Assouline book, In the Spirit of Capri. It's a gorgeous coffee table book that had me dreaming of a jet-set-worthy vacation all night. I was thrilled to get my signed copy by Ms. Fiori herself.

Next up, a slinky, tangerine-orange jersey gown on Thursday night.

The Royal Bag

The Bride-to-Be was recently spotted toting the Tods D-Bag -- so named after Princess Diana, who carried a similar style.

This beige D-Bag, below, is already sold out on Saks.com. Will there be a run on everything Kate carries?

Simple Summer Sandals

As I was unpacking and organizing my closet, I came across a pair of brown leather K. Jacques flipflops that are just about worn through. Hello!  I've worn these practically everyday for the past two or three summers. Maybe it's time for a new pair! I've spent so much time looking for new ballet flats and heels, I ignored the fact that I basically live in leather sandals and rubber Havaianas on hot sunny days. (Note, this is since I've moved out of the city). So, basic leather sandals have just been added to my ever expanding list of things to buy for the warm weather season.


A good leather sandal goes with everything -- from jean shorts or cargos and a white tee to floral daytime frocks... nautical, boho, preppy. All your basic summer looks. 


Maybe I will end up getting the same basic pair again but I'd like to consider something a little strappier...

I'm also interested in Chelsy Davy, on-and-off girlfriend of Prince Harry. According to Harper's Bazaar, the South African will be wearing an Alberta Ferretti gown to the wedding and will change into a shorter Ferretti dress later that evening.  

Royal Wedding Fever

The countdown begins!  Less than a week until the biggest, most historic wedding in recent history... The extravaganza that is the exchange of vows between Prince William and Kate Middleton is only to be rivaled by the nuptials of the bridegroom's parents.  

Probably the biggest buzz surrounding this momentous occasion is the question of who is the designer of Kate Middleton's wedding gown.  Is it Sarah Burton, the designer who took the reigns at Alexander McQueen's line after Lee McQueen passed away? Maybe established British eveningwear designer Bruce Oldfield? Or Sophie Cranston of the lesser-know London label Libelula? Perhaps, it is someone that surprises all.

I for one, cannot wait to find out... I think Kate Middleton will make an intriguing princess and it will be fun following her royal fashion (see my post Kate Middleton: Fashion Icon-to-Be). Of course, I will be covering Kate's style moments-of-note on JennyLevinStyle and contributing to the new blog Her Royal Highness Catherine (www.herroyalhighnesscatherine.com).

Good for Gwyneth for trying something bold and bright!  Not sure if I could pull off a dress in this sunny shade (maybe a tee or tank)... but she looks great!

Perfect Combo

Love the way Reese pairs the same black coat with three different dresses. 

The hem of the coat falls just a touch longer than her the hem of her dress. It's always tricky finding the right coat to go with a dress but she seems to have a found the perfect one. It pairs nicely with a springy floral frock, little navy number, and a bright shift.  I always end up wearing a trench as a spring coat but I think it would be nice to have a less sporty option or two.

New Nautical

I'm slowly getting my wardrobe warm-weather ready and recently made a couple sailor-inspired purchases.... Nautical is a perennial favorite. (see my prev post It's a Classic). I bought these skinny cotton pants, (jeans, really), above, with gold ankle-zippers from Zara and am loving them -- with just a simple white tee on top. Cute and easy. They come in other colors, which I might have to consider.  

And below, this striped tee with a side-tie was on sale and I couldn't pass it up. Wore it with my dark-wash denim and plan to also pair it with white jeans (if I ever find ones I like) and shorts. Would look cute with army-green, too.

I just saw this super casual dress at J.Crew and think I need to go back and get it. Perfect for playing in the backyard with the kiddies or as a pool cover-up! Love anything fuss-free for summer!
